The Aviat Husky A-1B features a braced high wing, tandem seating and dual controls. The structure is steel tube frames and Dacron covering over all but the rear of the fuselage, plus metal leading edges on the wings. The high wing was selected for good all-around visibility, making the Husky ideal for observation and patrol roles. Power is supplied by a relatively powerful (for the Husky's weight) 180 hp (134 kW) Textron Lycoming O-360 flat-four piston engine turning a constant speed propeller. The Husky's high power-to-weight ratio and low wing loading result in good short-field performance. This Husky has several upgrades over a standard A-1B: - Aspen Avionics Evolution 1000 Pro Primary Flight Display (PFD) with the Synthetic Vision option installed - Garmin 530W - Garmin GTX-327 Transponder - GMA-340 audio panel - FreeFlightSystems ADSB (FDL-978-XVR) w/ WiFi to iPad/iPhone using ForeFlight - MT MTV-15-B/205-58 propeller under an STC - SGS (Soft Gear Stop) kit replaces the standard hard metal stop between the landing gear and airframe with progressive urethane bumpers. It smooths out taxiing over rough terrain, significantly absorbs gear recoil from hard landings, and prevents bouncing. It was built by Aviat Aircraft of Afton, Wyoming, in 2003, and is in excellent condition.
